ACTIVITY & OTHER

111.jpgJapan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 11, 2025, with Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives (SAIGON CO.OP), a leading Vietnamese retailer, establishing a strategic partnership in the field of food safety.
SAIGON CO.OP operates more than 800 stores, including CO.OPmart, one of Vietnam's largest supermarket chains, and is recognized as a top consumer goods retailer in Vietnam, serving hundreds of millions of customers annually.

This MOU aims to enhance food safety across the Vietnamese food supply chain and promote commercial collaboration by enabling SAIGON CO.OP to utilize JFS standards to assess the food safety management of its suppliers, while JFSM provides multifaceted support for the implementation and operation of these standards.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by approximately 200 participants, including the Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department and the Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, as well as other food industry stakeholders. Alongside JFSM, presentations were given by VinaCert, the JFS-registered certification body in Vietnam, and NAFIQPM Center 6, an auditing company, showcasing concrete initiatives to promote the adoption of JFS standards.

This collaboration is expected to mark an important step toward implementing the Japanese food safety management standard, "JFS Standard," in overseas retail markets through SAIGON CO.OP's extensive distribution network.

This initiative has also been covered by several major local media outlets.
