JFSM Participates in the GFSI Annual Conference 2026 and Presents as a Certification Program Owner
Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM) participated in the "GFSI Annual Conference 2026," hosted by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Japan Local Group, held on February 20, 2026, at the Aios Nagatacho Conference Room in Tokyo.
The conference brought together more than 40 participants, including members of The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) in Japan, government agencies, and Certification Program Owners (CPOs).
The program featured reports from working groups, dialogues with CPOs, and updates from government authorities, providing a broad overview of current initiatives and system operations related to food safety in Japan.
JFSM President Masanori Kotani joined other CPO representatives in the session "Dialogue with Certification Program Owners: Domestic Deployment and Challenges," where he introduced JFSM's ongoing efforts.
He highlighted that the JFS Standards, as a GFSI-recognized scheme originating in Japan, are designed to be accessible for a wide range of food businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises.
He also emphasized JFSM's continued commitment to strengthening support for businesses through enhanced handbooks and capacity-building initiatives.
In addition, he shared future priorities, including expanding the number of accredited certification bodies and increasing recognition of the JFS Standards internationally.
JFSM will continue to engage actively within the GFSI framework, collaborating with domestic and international stakeholders to contribute to the advancement of food safety in Japan and the broader Asian region.
