Commencement of Cooperation with JASaff in Reliability Maintenance Program for JFS Standards - Commemorative Ceremony Held
The Japan Food Safety Management Association (hereinafter referred to as "JFSM") signed a contract with the Japan Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Management and Consumer Safety Technology Center (FAMIC) Accreditation Center (JASaff) (hereinafter referred to as "JASaff") for office audit services for JFS audits and reliability maintenance activities based on the Conformity Certification Program documents. A commemorative ceremony was held on June 6, 2025.
This commemorative ceremony was held at the "World Food Safety Day 2025" event hosted by JFSM to celebrate the "World Food Safety Day" on June 7, as designated by the United Nations. The event was introduced on the Codex Alimentarius Commission website and was held for the fourth time this year.
At the commemorative ceremony, Mr. Yuichi Matsuta, Director of JASaff, received a commemorative gift from Mr. Masanori Kotani, President of JFSM.Ceremonial photo (from left to right: Mr. Masanori Kotani, President of JFSM, and Mr. Yuichi Matsuta, Director of JASaff)
Mr. Matsuta commented, "From this fiscal year, JASaff will be assisting us in our reliability maintenance activities based on JFS audits and conformity certification program documents. We believe that this is due to FAMIC's understanding that FAMIC has long been working on the JAS system and has developed and expanded its operations as an accreditation organization based on the ISO/IEC 17011 international standard, which is the basis of our knowledge and experience.JASaff is committed to food safety together with JFSM." We are very pleased to have received these words of encouragement from the JFSM.
The Maintenance of Confidence Program, based on the JFS Audit and Conformity Assurance Program documents, ensures that audit firms maintain a system for properly performing audit work.To this end, JFSM conducts annual office audits (e.g., review of the audit firm's quality management system and audit reports) of all audit firms.
From now on, this annual office audit will be shifted to JASaff in phases.JASaff will be able to utilize its abundant knowledge and experience in the field of food accreditation, and by eliminating the involvement of interested parties in the audits, the audits will be conducted in a more fair and appropriate manner. This is expected to further improve the credibility of the JFS standards that are being used in the conformity certification program.
