Masanori Kotani, President of the Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM), spoke at a sponsored course organized by the ASEAN Food Industry Human Resources Development Association (afh) at the University of the Visayas in the Philippines, where he conducted lectures and workshops.

On April 22, Kotani delivered a lecture on the theme of "Food Safety and Social Responsibility in the Food Chain."
During the lecture, he introduced concepts such as GMP, HACCP, and Food Safety Management (FSM) in Japan, as well as continuous improvement utilizing 5S and Kaizen activities, and the importance of a food safety culture.
He also explained the internationally harmonized JFS standards and JFSM's initiatives regarding food safety and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the Asian region.

In addition, we held a workshop on the theme of "Visualizing Risks on the Front Lines and Enhancing Food Safety Culture," which incorporated the concepts outlined in the "Food Safety Culture Positioning Paper (2026 Edition)" published by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) at the end of March 2026.
