This course was held under the theme of "Promoting Agri-Food Systems Through Innovative Technologies for a Safer, Smarter, and More Sustainable Future," and featured lectures and workshops led by experts in a variety of fields, including food safety management, food traceability, and sustainable food and agricultural management.

On April 22, Kotani delivered a lecture on the theme of "Food Safety and Social Responsibility in the Food Chain."
During the lecture, he introduced concepts such as GMP, HACCP, and Food Safety Management (FSM) in Japan, as well as continuous improvement utilizing 5S and Kaizen activities, and the importance of a food safety culture.
He also explained the internationally harmonized JFS standards and JFSM's initiatives regarding food safety and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the Asian region.

In addition, we held a workshop on the theme of "Visualizing Risks on the Front Lines and Enhancing Food Safety Culture," which incorporated the concepts outlined in the "Food Safety Culture Positioning Paper (2026 Edition)" published by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) at the end of March 2026. During the workshop, participants analyzed food safety risks based on case studies from food manufacturing sites and discussed initiatives aimed at driving continuous improvement and enhancing food safety culture.

JFSM will continue to contribute to the promotion of food safety culture, human resource development, and the improvement of food safety on an international scale through collaboration with relevant organizations both in Japan and abroad.

This initiative is featured on the Codex Alimentarius Commission website as part of the activities for World Food Safety Day.
